Meet Valerie

Welcome to my little slice of the internet. A space to share my work and, with it, my heart. I am so glad you are here.

 

Creativity has always played a large role in my life. As a child raised on the Gulf Coast (Mobile, Alabama), my art reflects a long-held fascination with God’s creation.

 

It wasn’t until I picked up the paint brush as an adult that I realized the depth of my call to create. Paint brush in hand, my mind and heart settle. For me, the process of creating art  is meditative, moving me beyond myself in a posture of praise and grounding me in gratitude and an awareness of the essential.

 

I take inspiration from the breadth of my lived experience: the fold of a petal, the break of a wave, the colors of a late summer sunset, the smell of the Bay. My work has been described as intuitive, layered, joyful, calming, vulnerable, and celebratory. Above all, I hope it sings of gratitude.

 

Eckhart Tolle wrote, “ Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation of all abundance.”  May my art always be a constant acknowledgment.

 

I split my time between Texas and the Gulf Coast of Alabama and currently live in Dallas with my husband, two children, and Vizsla pups. I enjoy interior design, running, hiking, telling stories, and laughing loudly and often. I am faithful and imperfect —a work in progress.
